indians and redskins and blackhawks, oh my! (1)

Over the course of much of my young life, I have been an avid sports fan. I consider myself to be above average in general sports knowledge and understand a lot about the history of various sporting events as well as their stars/figures. What i did not realize about 12 months ago was that the baseball cap that i had purchased had one of the most offensive and hotly-debated logos in all of professional sports--namely Chief Wahoo (see logo in margin). Of course, I realized that this was the logo of the Cleveland Indians (and has been for quite some time), but i didn't think twice that this red-skinned, wide-grinning Indian cartoon could possibly be deemed as racial image. To make a long story short (please check out the you tube clips that i have attached at the bottom right hand side of this page for more details), I not only no longer wear my offensive baseball cap around school/Cleveland, but I also have begun to consider what other articles of clothing or personal items that i own could be (or are indeed) racist in nature.
